From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

N734XH veered off the left side of the runway into the adjacent dirt area and struck a runway light after landing on runway 12R at kvgt. The private pilot (PIC) and 1 passenger did not suffer any injury. The aircraft, a Cessna 172, incurred minor damage (a dent) on the left main gear strut fairing as a result from striking a runway light. The PIC stated that he increased his approach speed by 5 knots and landed with 20 degrees flaps due to gusty winds being reported by tower and the airport ATIS. The PIC stated that he landed approximately 1000' from the approach end of the runway, slightly left of the centerline. After touchdown, the aircraft suddenly veered to the left, and the PIC was unable to maintain directional control with the rudder pedals. Winds reported at the time of the incident were from 160/13 gusting to 19 knots.

As the FAA filed it
