From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

After takeoff, the aircraft climbed to an altitude between 75 and 150 feet AGL when the engine was heard to have stopped running. Witnesses state that the propeller was not rotating and was stopped in a near vertical position. The aircraft made a forced landing in a soy bean field that is adjacent and parallel to runway 28. The aircraft impacted the ground in a flat attitude, collapsed all three landing gear, and slid approximately 24 feet before coming to rest in an upright position. The accident occured approximately 300 yards north of centerline of runway 28 and 3/4 down the total length of the runway. There was no fire.
