From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

In support of the hualapai indian nation and while in a hover waiting for another helicopter to depart the "swamp landing area" at the bottom of the west end of the grand canyon, N822HM manuvered too close to a canvas umbrella providing shade for picknic tables. The pilot initiated a right pedal turn without enough clearance between the umbrella and fenestron of the helicopter. The canvas fabric of the umbrella was injested into the fenestron assembly causing damage to the fenestron shroud, blades, stators, and anti-tourqe drive system. Additionally, damage was sustained by the rear skid attachment point bulkhead. The pilot landed the aircraft without injury to the occupants and shut down.
