What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
Solo student pilot making first landing in CE-172 of touch & go circuit at 65 knots on centerline. Winds 350 at 3. According to pilot he was a little high, pulled power, flaps 30 degrees. Touched down on rwy 34, approx 500 feet past numbers. Main ldg wheels touched first at 50-55 knots and started to veer left. He applied right rudder as nose wheel touched with no effect. He did not want to apply right brake due to concern of "cartwheeling." Airplane continued left departing rwy into grass, across taxiway, through taxiway sign, and into grass. Pilot initiated normal shutdown and exited aircraft. Aircraft was flown earlier the same day by two different flight instructors with no mechanical issues noted.
