From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

For unknown reasons the student parachute jumpers' main chute deployed too low (approximately 200 feet above the ground) during a free fall jump and the jumper impacted the ground at an ecessive rate. Impact forces with the ground deployed the reserve chute. The parachute rig was equipped a cypres device. During initial inspection of the parachute rig it was noted that the reserve chute deployment loop was not routed through the cypres device cutter. It was also noted the cypress cutter had extended through the open hole in the cutter (the cypres had fired).the cypress device was removed from the parachute rig and sent to the manufacturer for analysis. Anlysis revealed that the cypres device activated at approximately 800 feet above ground level, however, no deceleration was noted after activtion.

As the FAA filed it

FOR UNKNOWN REASONS THE STUDENT PARACHUTE JUMPERS' MAIN CHUTE DEPLOYED TOO LOW (APPROXIMATELY 200 FEET ABOVE THE GROUND) DURING A FREE FALL JUMP AND THE JUMPER IMPACTED THE GROUND AT AN ECESSIVE RATE. IMPACT FORCES WITH THE GROUND DEPLOYED THE RESERVE CHUTE.THE PARACHUTE RIG WAS EQUIPPED A CYPRES DEVICE.
