From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approx 3,000 AGL, pilot experienced severe vibration and power loss, and was still able to get some power from the engine at about 4,000 RPM. Maintained best glide speed and returned to W24 and performed an uneventful landing. Engine able to maintain 4,000 RPM until shut-down at the ramp. A post flight investigation revealed that a failed #3 rod had punched a hole through the side of the engine case.
