From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

At approximately 8:19 local, the pilot made his intital call for taxi and was directed to runway 32 at frg. The aircraft was cleared for takeoff at approximately 8:28 local time. The aircraft aborted takeoff and the pilot taxied back to the ramp. The aircraft was observed with its engine cowling open and with at least three occupants by the engine. At approximately 8:44 local the pilot called for taxi a second time. While taxiing the aircraft the pilot indicated he had accomplished a run up and would like to perform another run up prior to takeoff. The aircraft was cleared for takeoff at approximately 8:52 local time and the pilot requested a couple of touch and goes. The aircraft made a right hand circuit of the traffic pattern. While on final at approximately 8:58 local, the pilot requested a fly by and was cleared for a low approach. The controller asked the pilot if the aircraft was experiencing trouble and the pilot indicated he was not. The aircraft flew down the runway at a couple of hundred feet AGL, started to climb at the end of the runway and made a steep left turn, lost altitude and landed in an off airport crash. Inspector, rbo, cjd and supervisor sjt of the frg FSDO reported to the accident scene at 10:43 am. The accident scene and aircraft were examined. The pilot was in the left front seat. The pilot, the right seat private pilot rated passenger and left rear seat private rated passenger received serious injuries. These individuals had all been removed from the scene for medical attention pior to FAA arrival. The fatally injured rear right seat passenger was removed prior to FAA arrival. The aircraft severed the branches of trees as it approached to land in the south direction on east carmans road. The impact marks and oil stains on the pavement as well as impact marks on several vehicles indicated that the aircraft impacted the ground gear up and with the left wing down and in a slight nose down pitch attitude. The aircraft slid down east carmans road and came to rest after impacting 4 cars.
