From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot received IFR clearance as weather was deteriorating. Aircraft was IMC at 15,000 for 10 minutes and engine started losing power with manifold pressure (mp) dropping to 16.7". Pilot declared emergency and received vectors to O22. Mp did not increase during decent with engine only producing idle power. Pilot was forced to land short of O22 on forest service road. Pilot stated he never actuated carburetor heat during this whole event. Both wings were broken off the aircraft due to impact with trees.
