From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot contacted dsm approach and was informed to stand by for sequence. Since dsm was landing runway 13. After about 10 minutes of waiting, pilot recieved squawk code and headings to be sequenced to the airport. Pilot was assigned as #2 for landing behind a small jet and ahead of an F-16. Dsm approach told pilot to contact tower, who cleared pilot to land 13. On final, tower told pilot to exit 13 short on D4. Pilot asked permisson to land long and was denied. Pilot was very busy in the cockpit getting the aircraft down shorter than he had planned and rushed his landing checklist. The pilot failed to extend the landing gear prior to landing, resulting in a gear-up landing.
