From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During cruise flight on 11/08/2010 engine began to run rough. Pilot made a precautionary landing at Carroll county airport (dmw). Mechanic found #1 cylinder with a stuck intake valve, one severely bent intake pushrod, a bowed exhaust pushrod, a damaged rocker arm on the intake side. It was also discovered that the rocker arms for the # 1 and 3 cylinders were installed in the wrong positions. The intake was on the exhaust side and the exhaust on the intake side. This was verified by the part numbers that are vibro-etched into the parts. This inrrect installation caused the rocker arms to cut a groove into the rushrods on cylinders 1 & 3. This cutting put metal throughout the engine. The oil filter was cut open and metal was found in most all of the pleets of the filter paper. Metal was also found in the lower oil screen. The amount of damage to the pushrods in only 7 hours would likely have caused a total engine failure in a short period of time if this engine continued to operate.

As the FAA filed it
