From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

During planned flight tests as part of its certification evaluation, the aircraft was on final approach to lubbock, TX airport, when a fire broke out in the P100 electrical panel located in the aft e & e bay. The fire self-extinguished in approximately 20 seconds. The fire was later believed to have been caused by a short in the P100 power panel due to the inadvertant introduction of metal shavings into the panel. The fire damaged the P100 panel, insulation blankets, and portions of stringers #31, 32, & 33. The fire did not breach the aircraft skin and was confined to the P100 panel box and its immediate surrounding support structure. There was no burn through or damage to aircraft skin or floor.
