From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The private pilot departed keen for a local flight with a passenger during daylight hours (approx 1630L). The pilot attempted to perform a touch and go landing at kore after dark (1757L).during his approach, to runway 19 at kore, the aircraft struck trees approximately 1/8 of a mile short of the ruway threshold and was destroyed. The pilot sustained minor injuries and his passenger was killed. The pilot reports having flown his approach to runway 19 by utilizing a VASI system. He reported having a "white over red light on the VASI system and had the illuminated runway in sight". When the VASI lights started to dim or flicker, he became concerned, added power to the airplane and immediately struck trees. Runway 19 at kore has no VASI or PAPI system installed on that runway.
