From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Departed uao with intent to return to uao, changed plans and decided to land on willamette river, pilot had never retracted gear (wheels) after take off, failed to follow standard checklist and landed with gear (wheels) extended on water, causing excessive drag on the floats, the aircraft momentum caused aircraft to nose down in the water and flip upside down. Damage limited to windshield and engine cowling. Sustained no other damage. Pilot was not injured and exited aircraft safely and climbed onto floats until rescued by boater 1 1/2 hours later.
