The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
On March 9, 2011, N112HE was being used to conduct a 14 CFR part 61 training flight. The crew consisted of a training instructor (PIC) and a certificated pilot seeking a commercial rating. At approximately 1215 CST and 700 to 800 feet AGL, the student initiated a planned auto rotation maneuver for touchdown at 1T8. The aircraft began to make a grinding noise, audible by the crew and persons on the ground, and subsequent loss of tail rotor authority. The PIC assumed control of the aircraft and initiated an emergency landing. The aircraft landed in a pecan grove, striking a tree, with subsequent roll over. The two occupants exited without any injuries and there was no post crash fire.
