From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Mr.privacy data omittedWas PIC of N786SR, a B200 being operated by north slope borough search and rescue, under 14 CFR part 91.mr. privacy data omitted Was cleared for the RNAV GPS rwy 6 approach into Atqasuk, Alaska. Shortly before fibak, the initial approach fix (iaf), the flight descended to 2000 ft, ice accumulation was not exccesive and all anti-ice systems were activated, the de-ice boots were inflated once between fibak and duvfu. The de-ice boots appeared to shed ice completely. The descent continued to 1700 ft between dufvu and iriqu, the final approach fix (faf), the de-ice boots were inflated approximately three times and ice shedding appeared normal. The flaps were extended midway between dufvu and iriqu and the landing gear was lowered approximately one mile from the faf. privacy data omitted Looked down and noticed his airspeed at approximately 105 KTS. He then disengaged the autopilot, set max climb power and retracted the landing gear and flaps. During the climb the aircraft was just about to the top of the clouds (approimately 2000 ft) when it shuddered privacy data omitted lowered the nose to prevent the stall and re-entered the clouds. The aircraft pitched and rolled violently through the clouds to just before impact with the ground. Mr.privacy data omitted Took pictures of the aircraft shortly after the accident and expressed his dismay at the lack of airframe icing. The aircraft received substantial damage; minor injuries; ptrs #201102355.
