From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On June 25, 2011 at 2:54PM EDT an experimental owner/amateur built pietenpol air camper aircraft, registration N16DV, sustained substantial damage during a crosswind landing rollout on runway 1 at Sawyer International Airport (saw)in gwinn, Michigan. During the rollout, the aircraft veered sharply to the right. The Sawyer tower reported the winds at 090/07. The pilot/builder stated he changed the position of the breake pedels and the diameter of the landing gear axel previous to this flight. Post accident inspection revieled that this modification prevented the pilot form obtaining full rudded travel and weakened the gear. Damage to the aircraft included left landing gear axel separation from landing gear, longerons broken at firewall, damaged firewall, aft fuselage and propeller. The airplane came to a stop sideways on the runway approximately 1000 feet from at the approach end and 400 feet from touchdown point. The pilot was the sole occupant and received no injuries. Additional damage was incurred during the removal from the runway, including tearing the firewall loose from the remaining longerons.

As the FAA filed it
