From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

According to the PIC the aircraft was being repostioned from N12 to kblm at approximately 1630 EDT on 04 July 2011 with one passenger aboard. As soon as the helicopter lifted off the ground and began to taxi forward, there was a complete loss of anti-torque control. The helicopter began to spin to the right. The PIC applied full left pedal, however the spin did not stop. He maneuvered the aircraft away from other aircraft on the ground, closed the throttle and excuted a hovering autorotation. Upon clearing away from the aircraft on the ground he then excuted the hover auto. Both skids spread when the helicopter impacted the ground. Both persons exited the helicopter under their on power.
