From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft departed prineville, OR, S39, for a pleasure flight with the pilot and 2 passengers at approximately 12:50 pm PDT with intentions of returning to S39. No flight plan filed. The pilot spotted the Mckenzie Bridge airstrip, 00S, and decided to land there just to look around. This was his first ever landing at this air strip. He was landing rwy 6 and had about a 12 knot (estimated) tail wind. The approach was normal, smooth and level. He stated he made a hard 3 point landing that was a little hard, bounced once and came down on the nose wheel causing the nose gear (fixed) to break. The aircraft veered right and came to rest at the edge of the grass strip. When the aicraft came to a stop the left wing tip came into contact with the ground.
