From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot had given some rides earlier in the day in a stearman. He decided to do another ride in the bird dog (Cessna 305A). He taxied to runway 23 for a departure from the intersection of runway 23 and taxiway c. the flight was to be a flight around the pattern with a full stop landing on runway 14. The pilot noted that he observed a wind shift. The wind shifted from the southwest to the southeast. He advanced the throttle and noted a slight drift to the left. He stated that this was not an uncommon occurence. The airplane continued to drift left and the pilot elected to abort the takeoff. During the abort, the right wing scraped the runway and there was evidence on the runway that heavy braking had been applied on the right wheel. The airplane departed the runway on the left side and the pilot secured the airplane.

As the FAA filed it
