From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Airman had been conducting aerial application on a field from east to west. He finished and was spraying the headlands (trim borders) on the field from north to south, along the west side of the field. As he completed the pass, he pulled up to clear a grove of trees along the south side of the field. He was aware of the wind generator tower ahead of him; however, the nose of the aircraft blocked out the view of the wind generator tower, due to a nose high attitude. He was banking left and believed he would miss the tower; however, his right hand wing struck a blade of the tower. The tower was not operating at the time. He did not hear the wing itself hit the tower, but was made aware of the contact when the boom assembly came loose, due to the damage incurred by the impact, and struck the rear of the fuselage. He landed immediately on a road ahead of him, taxied into an abandoned farm site, and called the authorities.

As the FAA filed it
