From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Commercial pilot, privacy data omitted, was under instruction for a check out in a stol 750LS special light sport Aircraft by CFI elroy devoll, cert # privacy data omitted. CFI had the student doing maneuvers @ approximately 2000 feet AGL then descended to approximately 500 feet AGL for a simulated landing. The CFI was initiating corrections to the pitch of the Aircraft and the student was counter correcting. The CFI decided that the Aircraft was getting to slow and promply added power to correct aircrafts slow descent but the Aircraft continued to descend, reportably incountering a down draft, and impacted the ground in a 3 point attitude. As the Aircraft continued to roll out the nose wheel began to break through the hard dirt crust and collapsed. The Aircraft then went straight over on its back and came to rest. Both CFI and student exited the Aircraft without injury.
