From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On August 31, 2011, the pilot experienced some turbulance after departing bar harbor Maine airport (bhb) enroute to Stonington Maine airport (93B). The pilot was making an approach downwind to runway 07 when the pilot noticed a wind shift that seemed to favor runway 25. The pilot decided runway 25 was his best approach for landing the aircraft. He proceeded to land on runway 25 but experienced strong winds from the right (west) but was able to maintain alignment on runway 25. The aircraft landed hard on the right main landing gear which resulted in the landing gear collapsing.
