From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot took off rwy 36L, rotated at 60 KTS, 50 ft off runway at 70 KTS engine abruptly lost about 50 percent power. Pilot aborted takeoff, landed 200 ft from runway end, slid off runway through grass and collided with chain link fence. No injury to pilot, one pax, registered owner of a/c suffered minor injuries. Substantial damage on wing and fuselage area. NTSB iinvolved. On replaying EFIS rpms appeared to drop sharply; however, everything else appeared normal; engine acted normal. Propeller governor was removed, tested and torn down at FAA repair station. Governor showed RPM rising abnormally slow, would not accelerate. Pilot valve had to be forced out of drive gear due to scoring on pilot valve which may have been caused by metal ingestion. Aircraft oil filter was checked and filtered through cloth which appeared clean. Governor has been sent to NTSB per their request for further testing. Awaiting NTSB results.
