From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot was enroute to Hays, Kansas, on VFR flight, in VMC conditions, in a CE-185, N550DP. The pilot was landing on runway 16 and was reported to have porpoised during the initial touchdown and flare. Further down the runway, tire tread and a scrape mark is visible, angling from the right of the center line to the left edge of the runway. Along this skidmark/scrape, the propeller began impacting the runway. Numerous marks indicate the engine was producing power. The aircraft eventually flipped over and came to rest on its wings with the landing gear up. The event may be summarized as a ground loop. The pilot and his passenger egressed without injury. The pilot provided a statement admitting to the ground loop, as did his passenger. Witnesses in the terminal provided descriptions also supporting the ground loop. The aircraft suffered substantial damage. Weather at the time of landing was reported as 100/13KT 10SM clr 26/04 a 30.10.
