From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Southwest airlines' flight 2024, a Boeing B737-7H4, enroute from chicago midway airport (mdw) to baltlmore/washington international (bwi) experienced a system failure while in cruise. Captain's (CA) indicated air speed (IAS) disagreed with first officer's (fo) IAS. Aircrew determined CA indication erroneous. Thunderstorms and rain in area. CA declared an emergency and deverted into Detroit Metropolitan Wayne county airport (dtw) where the aircraft landed without incident. Maintenance performed a bite (built-in-test-equipment) of the flight computer in accordance with the fault isolation manual (fim) fc 31-65060 and confirmed the fault. Maintenance found excessive moisture in the CA (left) pitot/static system. Maintenance drained and flushed the system and performed leak and operational tests using maintenance task (mt) card MT-34-11-00. System tested normal and the aircraft was returned to service.
