From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot stated he was returning to Palo Alto, CA airport on 10/22/2011 and was on final approach attempting to land. The nose of the aircraft pitched down and struck the runway. The pilot pulled the nose of the aircraft up and on the second touchdown the nose landing gear wheel assembly broke off. When the wheel assembly departed it struck and damaged the left wing leading edge assembly. The nose landing gear wheel assembly was repaired and reinstalled. However, the leading edge assembly is currently being repaired.
