From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Witnesses report that the pilotprivacy data omitted (above) performed an uneventful run-up, taxi and take-off. One witness reported that during roll-out, the aircraft splashed through standing water. Immediately after take-off, one witnesses heard the engine make a sound "similar to a jake-brake on a diesel engine". The aircraft was slow to make altitude, just barely getting to tree top level (approx. 150-200 feet). They believe the pilot was trying to attempt to return to the field when they heard the engine back-fire two times before the aircraft disappeared into the trees.OBS weather at the time of the accident:30 oct 2011, 4:51 pm EDT, TEMP40 DP35 HUM83% WC34 ese 10 10.00 FEW011 SCT030 OVC250 1024.8 ALT30.23 28.959
