From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The airman, privacy data omitted, stated that on 21 nov 2011, between 1400 and 1500 local at Bob Sikes Airport in Crestview, FL (kcew), he was attempting pattern work and touch and go landings in N1201D, an experimental aircraft. The airman stated that on the last landing, after the main gear had touched down on the runway, the nose contined to descend below normal landing pitch attitude. He also stated that backpressure was insufficient to hold the aircraft nose off of the runway after the nose gear failed. The weather at the time of the incident was VFR; the airman stated that weather and wind was not a factor in the nose gear collapse; however the airman stated that in his opinion, a post flight inspection of the aircraft revealed a "pre-existing crack in the nosegear tubing." The investigation of this incident revealed that the airman, privacy data omitted, was unable to provide a valid registration certificate for N1201D. Enforcement action initiated.

As the FAA filed it

THE AIRMAN, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, STATED THAT ON 21 NOV 2011, BETWEEN 1400 AND 1500 LOCAL AT BOB SIKES AIRPORT IN CRESTVIEW, FL (KCEW), HE WAS ATTEMPTING PATTERN WORK AND TOUCH AND GO LANDINGS IN N1201D, AN EXPERIMENTAL AIRCRAFT. THE WEATHER AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WAS VFR; THE AIRMAN STATED THAT WEATHER AND WIND WAS NOT A FACTOR IN THE NOSE GEAR COLLAPSE; HOWEVER THE AIRMAN STATED THAT IN HIS OPINION, A POST FLIGHT INSPECTION OF THE AIRCRAFT REVEALED A "PRE-EXISTING CRACK IN THE NOSEGEAR TUBING." THE INVESTIGATION OF THIS INCIDENT REVEALED THAT THE AIRMAN, ^PRIVACY DATA OMITTED^, WAS UNABLE TO PROVIDE A VALID REGISTRATION CERTIFICATE FOR N1201D. ENFORCEMENT ACTION INITIATED.
