From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On February 10, 2012 a Socata TBM-700 bound for fort meyers (fmy) registration number N850LM, crashed shortly after rotation on takeoff from runway 21 in Madison Wisconsin (msn). The aircraft pitched up and rolled to the left with the left wing tip striking the ground causing the wing to partially separate from the aircraft, rupturing the fuel cell. The aircraft leveled off on ground in the grass, left of runway 21 and caught fire sliding approximately 900 feet before coming to rest. The pilot and two passengers exited the aircraft while the aircraft continued to burn. Msn crash fire and rescue extinguished the fire within minutes after the aircraft came to rest. The aircraft occupants suffered minor injuries and were treated then released from a local hospital.
