From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

While enroute from 0Q4 to sql at appox 4500 MSL (operating under VFR rules, under VMC conditions) and just passing the 3O1 airport, the pilot noted engine oil streaking on the lower fuselage observation window. Within minutes, the engine oil streaking became heavy and smoke was emitting from the engine compartment. The pilot declared an emergency on guard frequency and squawk 7700 on the aircraft transponder. Upon securing the engine, the pilot immediately descended and made a successful Landing at an abandoned military airfield (Crows Landing). The aircraft did not occur any damage from the forced Landing. Aircraft was repositioned, via ground transportation, to a FBO at 0Q4 for repair.
