From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

Received notification via memo on June 12, 2012 from the denali cmo that they had performed an investigation of a complaint regarding an incident on March 3, 2012, relating to sky comabt ace LLC of henderson, Nevada. The incident involved N369XT, model Extra flugzeuproduktions EA-300L, that contacted a parglider tow-line approximately 500 feet AGL at the Jean dry lake bed in Jean, Nevada near Jean Airport (OL7). N369XT was in a formation flight with three (3) other aircraft, 2 of which were model EA-300L and a military north American T6 trainer. The sca LLC operate with a waiver for farmation flight not to exceed operations below 2500 feet. This flight exceeded those waiver minimums by 2000 feet. The tow line contacted the left outboard wing assembly upper and lower camber. Pilot stated that he was in formation flight and was in a slow turn about 500' above ground for a photo opportunity with passenger onboard. Pilot states he noticed the tow-line just prior to the tow-line contacting his left wing. Pilot stated the tow-line stayed attached for approximately 5 seconds and then trailed off. The #3 ship in the formation called "knock it off" which is the signal to break formation. #3 aircraft joined back up to assess damage, damage could not be assesed, so they made a decision to return to henderson airport, Nevada for a precautionary landing. Pilot later stated he saw the paraglider when they entered the area but was not aware it was being towed from the ground. Pilot stated the flight gave the paraglider a 1500' clearance, but they passed in front of the glider which put them in the path of the tow rope. Paraglider was not injured.
