From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 03/11/2012privacy data omitted. The pilot of N4143C a Stinson 108-3, decided to make an off airport landing on a dirt strip 2 miles northwest of Agua Dulce airport. During the final approach to the dirt strip, privacy data omitted determined that he had too high of an altitude with too high airspeed to make a safe landing, and initiated a go around half way down the dirt strip, but was unable to out climb the steep surrounding terrain. The airplane impacted the climbing terrain and flipped over onto its top. The pilot and passenger immediately exited the airplane. The airplane caught fire and was destroyed.
