From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot privacy data omitted departed kmic, minneapolis crystal, MN airport in N3871N a BE-35 enroute to a final destination in craig Colorado. We are unsure of any intermediate stops. The aircraft was noticed by witnesses operating just below clouds which were around 400-900 feet AGL traveling from east to west. The aircraft's left wing seperated the aircraft and started to break up in flight. The aircraft crashed and fataly injured the pilot, two passengers and three dogs. The aircraft reversed direction due to the wing departing the aircraft and the aircraft crashed with an impact direction on a 103 degrees. There was a post impact fire which burned portions of the right wing, cabin and bagage area. The engine showed signs of fuel and the propeller showed signs that the engine was operational at time of impact with the ground. In reviewing the aircraft wing it was determined that the left wing was stressed with positive g loading. We are unable to locate the pilot and aircraft records at this time. When we receive the pilot and aircraft records we will ammend the 8020-23.
