From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Us air flight 271 executed a rolling takoff on rwy 15. At approximately 60 to 70 knots the aircraft started to yaw to the left. The crew noticed the number 1 engine was not producing predicted power. The target epr was 1.28 and the number 1 engine epr was at .60. The aircraft's ecam system also indicated number 1 engine failure. The crew aborted the takeoff betwee 60 and 70 knots. The aircraft was taxied to a holding area on taxiway a. the tower dispatched the fire department to the aircraft as the number 1 engine was smoking. The fire department discharged 5 to 15 pounds of halon agent into the core of the engine. Company maintenance personnel ran a failure inquire and determined that both fuel management unit channels a and b had failed. The engine was removed and replaced because of fire extingusher agent contamination of the engine core per the A319-320-321 maintenance manual procedure 70-11-56-910-001-A 13.

As the FAA filed it
