The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
At approximately 11:30AM on 4-6-12 I flew N352RH from klvk to kcpu. I made a practice GPS approach to RWY31. At kacby I dropped my gear and saw my mp at 17 inches witch is the power setting to establish the glide-slope decent angle. All went well until just at the moment that I was touching down on the runway. I heard a scraping sound. I applied full power and climbed out. I retracted my flaps and gear. The flaps came up but the gear did not. I then discovered the breaker was popped out. I reset it and the gear did not respond. I leveled out, assessed the situation, put the autopilot on. I then hand cranked the gear down and had a green gear down light. I was going to go back and land at kcpu but since the nose gear is the weak point on my airplane and I only have a 1 light landing gear indicator I was concerned that it would be a collapsed nose. Kcpu is a shorter and narrower runway than klvk plus it has a fire station on the field. The engine was running perfect so I called norcal approach and advised them of the situation. They cleared the way to klvk for me and notified the klvk tower. I also called my mechanic at maintenance express. He went to the tower so he could visually check my gear when I did a flyby when I did so it appeared that the gear was down. Tower cleared me to land. I shut my engine down so would not damage my prop if the nose gear failed.. Landing was uneventful and I coasted to the turnoff. Since the gear did not collapse I restarted the engine and taxied to the maintenance express hangar. At this time we noticed the tips of the propeller were bent. They were so even that there was no vibration at all on the way back from kcpu. Since then we have taken the engine out to have a teardown inspection, found a bad gear motor and broken shear-pins in the nose gear linkage and scraping on the inner gear doors.. N352RHMECHANIC inspected aircraft and found:•landing gear motor weakwe put the aircraft on jacks to figure out what exactly caused privacy data omitted gear to fail on aircraft N352RH. Our inspection revealed a worn/weak landing gear motor. The landing gear was slow and blew the circuit breaker a few times during our tests. If you need more information give me a call. Thankschris hamilton, I.a.main gear door hit the runway on landing and there was damage to the gear doors.
As the FAA filed it
AT APPROXIMATELY 11:30AM ON 4-6-12 I FLEW N352RH FROM KLVK TO KCPU. OUR INSPECTION REVEALED A WORN/WEAK LANDING GEAR MOTOR.
