From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot landed the Bell BHT-430 helicopter on a main street in downtown Tecumseh, MI to retrieve an accident victim for transport to the university of Michigan hospital in ann arbor. The pilot conducted a 360 degree overview of the landing site before landing. He considered nearby trees and obstructions. Although the landing took place on a main street in town wherein the landing site offered tight clearances from surrounding objects, the landing was uneventful. Upon takeoff, the rotorwash inflicted minor damage to stores nearby. The most significant damage was to an awning on one storefront that was destroyed. However, the flying debris caused by the departing helicopter was hazardous to the operation but no damage to the aircraft was sustained.
