From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On may 18, 2012, the eastern region operations center (roc) contacted the allegheny flight standards district office (agc) to advise that N9859A, a Cessna 195, serial number 7552, had conducted an off-airport landing into an industrial park in Tipton, PA, located in blair county. The pilot and privacy data omitted was the sole occupant and was not injured in the landing. On may 21, 2012, I was dispatched from agc to the landing area. Prior to arriving there, the owner provided me with pictures of the copper oil sump return line that was fractured and was the source of the oil loss and imminent engine failure. The owner made a precautionary landing. The landing area in the industrial park was at one time an active airport, peterson memorial airpark, closed in 1974. The aircraft was substantially damaged from the hard landing and striking obstructions. The aircraft was disassembled and removed from the site. There was no damage to property or to obstructions that the aircraft contacted. The repair facility contracted to remove the aircraft has forwarded the faulty oil line to national transportation safety board.
