From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 5/29/2012 during commercial pilot checkride, a steep spiral maneuver was initiated at approx 8500' over Pleasant Valley Airport (P48). Engine mixture was set at full rich with the throttle retarded. Applicant cleared the engine on each turn of the spiral. At approx 5000' the steep spiral was turned into a simulated engine out approach and landing. Mixture still at full rich, throttle retarded. Downwind and bas approach set up and on final applicant was instructed to perform "go around" this was at approx 700' when throttle was advanced engine did not respond, actual engine out landing initiated. Only 1500' of the runway is paved touchdown began on paved portion and continued onto the unpaved section. At this time damage to the landing gear occurred. Aircraft stopped approx 500-600' past paved section of runway. No injuries to either occupant.
