From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

06/03/2012 - PIC departed merrill field airport (pamr) at approx. 0910 ast on a 14 CFR part 91 flight intending to land at Birchwood Airport (pabv). Aircraft was reported to have made an off-field, emergency landing, on the old glenn highway near north Birchwood, with damage to landing gear and propeller. PIC stated that aircraft was last fueled one week earlier, on may 27, 2012, prior to his bi-annual flight review. After right downwind departure from pamr enroute to pabv at 1800 msl', PIC followed the old glenn highway toward Birchwood. Just prior to reaching pabv, the engine sputtered and quit. The mixture was lean and he went to full rich. This had no effect. At this point he was at 1500' MSL with a high sink rate. He spotted a clear section on the old glenn highway and committed to an emergency landing. He hit the asphalt hard and collapsed the landing gear. The aircraft ground looped and came to rest on the side of the road.
