From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Aircraft experienced hard landing. No injuries to either crew; substantial damage to airframe. Aircraft was on third circuit of pattern at X07 runway 6. Crew stated aircraft was responding normally to control and throttle inputs. PIC copied winds of 070-10G17. Student was performing short-field landing; intended touchdown point was the numbers. PIC stated desired final approach speed was 55-60 KIAS, with flaps 40 deg. PIC stated that at between 25-35 ft AGL, student retarded power to idle, and aircraft immediately began to sink. Power was re-applied, but aircraft settled hard before sufficient thrust could develop. No injuries to either crewmember. Visible damage includes engine mount, firewall, nose strut and propeller.
