From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On jun 21, 2012 at approximately 1200 local hours, N9497A, a Cessna 140A, serial number 15318, was landing at Walnut Ridge regional airport in Walnut Ridge, Arkansas (karg) when the commercially rated pilot detected a gust of wind lifting the tail upward just as he was touching down. The tail continued its upward lift, causing the nose of the plane to skid into and down the runway. As the aircraft came to rest, the tail continued over until the aircraft was upside down. The aircraft received substantial damage to the prop, engine and mount, tail, cockpit glass, and wings. The 14 code of federal regulations part 91 flight originated at a small private airstrip just south of karg with one passenger onboard. The passenger was not injured but the pilot received cuts to his forehead and elbow, in addition to opening a previous wound on his left hand. No flight plan was filed for this visual flight rules flight.
