From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The pilot departed his private sod runway 28. The winds were 2213G17 (from kmgy - nearby). The aircraft was running normally but was not able to climb. The aircraft barely lifted off, and the pilot decided to abort the take off. The pilot decided to go to the right of the runway to avoid trees on the departure end. The right gear gear leg collapsed. The pilot noticed the windsock as he went by, and it was showing a direct tailwind. Review by dws 07/18/2012REVIEWED by rjh 07/18/2012
