From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Appears aircraft was involved in an accident, which was not reported by the operator crashed at 1345 hours CDT on Sunday, July 15, 2012. The pilot reported: he was landing on a Private Grass runway with a 180 heading. The length was about 1000'. The winds were out of the south, during the approach he noted the stall horn was going off and that it was very bumpy. He noted once he got below the trees, the aircraft floated in ground effect. At this point he could not abort the landing. He landed long and once he got the aircraft on the ground he noted the breaking was not adequate due to the dry Grass and hard ground. He attempted to ground loop the aircraft but only managed to skid the aircraft to the right. The right wing struck a tree causing substantial damage in his estimation. During this event he indicated he pulled the mixture and master. The ELT did not go off. There were no injuries. In addition to the right wing the left wing has damage to the covering.
