What happened
The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.
During a water landing, an experimental amphibious airplane experience a float rigging failure causing the aircraft to list to the right after water landing. Minor damage to the float rigging (and wire pulls) occurred; no structural damage to the aircraft. No injuries to the private pilot or one passenger. Causal factors: water conditions and failure of the right side float attachment. Pilot reported a "hard" landing a year ago in the same aircraft, which he felt may have contributed to the float rigging/wire pull failure. The pilot stated the aircraft was repaired and some parts were replaced after the hard landing last year but the wire pulls were not replaced. Recommendations: recommend the wire pulls should be replaced after an abnormal landing occurs. Comments: no regulatory violations found.
