From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

The aircraft operated from Clark Regional Airport (kjvy) to huntingburg airport (khnb), and back to kjvy. On the approach into kjvy the aircraft engine shut down at approxitmately 1500 feet AGL. The pilot could not restart the engine; he tried switching fuel sources with no help. He declared an emergency and landed the aircraft on highway 60 approxitmately 1.5 miles from kjvy. On landing the bottom of the left wing, 2 feet in from the tip scraped the top of an f 150 pickup truck causing paint transfer from the truck to the aircraft. The aircraft was refueled and taxied to the airport via police escort. The aircraft fuel qty system was inspected and found it to be out of calibration. The left wing tip was inspected, no cracks or structual damage found. After the incident during a formal interview on 8/22/12 the pilot informed the FAA that he checked the fuel load and verified the aircraft was low on fuel prior to departure, and recalls the fuel quantity indication reading a half tank in each wing about half way to khnb. The pilot stated he thought he had enough fuel, and only performed a touch and go in khnb.
