From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

In preparation for landing at the nixon fork mine runway, the pilot elected to abort the landing due to turbulence. The pilot selected the landing gear to the up poisition. After the gear retracted the pilot notice a gear unsafe indication, on the gear handle and a nose gear unsafe indication on the indicator. At this point the pilot proceeded to the Mcgrath Airport. In preparation for landing the pilot selected the landing gear down position, the gear handle still showed gear unsafe with the nose gear indication also showing unsafe. After carrying out the emergency checklist the nosegear still indicated gear unsafe. The pilot elected to land in the tail low position – note: aircraft is equipped with a tailwheel skid. After landing and during the rollout phase, and as the airspeed decreased, the aircraft settled onto its nose and caused damage to its landing gear doors and minor damage to the aircraft structure. Light propeller damage was also noted after the landing.
