From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On 9/15/2012 at approximately 1515 local time a student pilot flying N865AF a grobe-Werke G120A aborted a takeoff from rwy 21.the aircraft veered off the runway between taxiway A2 and A3. The aircraft travelled across the infield between the runway and taxiways and continued into a non-movement area near the base of the tower. At the time of the incident the student pilot was practicing takeoffs and landings. Initially the student pilot made two takeoffs and two landings from the runway in use which was runway 3.upon landing for the second time a runway change was initiated by ATC and the student pilot taxied to runway 21. The student pilot was then cleared for departure on runway 21 and departed aligned with the runway centerline. In an interview with the student pilot he states that he began a normal departure from runway 21 and did not notice the windsock or wind direction on departure. The student pilot states that the departure roll was normal and no abnormalities existed until he was just below rotation speed, approximately 63 knots. At that time, the student pilot states he experienced a very sharp yawing of the nose approximately 45 degrees to the left of runway centerline. The student pilot states that he used full right rudder to counteract and correct for the yawing motion and simultaneously put in a correction to the right using ailerons. The student pilot states that the rudder input did not correct the yaw or straighten the nose and he released the right rudder input that he had used. He also states at that time the airplane began a slight rolling motion to the right. The student pilot states that he initiated an abort procedure and that the aircraft continued toward the left edge of the runway. The student pilot states that he initiated an engine shutdown procedure at the time he realized the aircraft was travelling toward the left edge of the runway. He states that he attempted braking while on the runway but that as the aircraft entered the grassy area between the runway and taxiway he released brake pressure because he was concerned about slipping on the grass. The student pilot states that as he passed over the grass and onto the taxi way he increased brake pressure and seeing an open area near the base of the tower on the ramp steered the aircraft to that area. There was no damage to the aircraft or any other surrounding aircraft, vehicle or structure. There was no injury to the student pilot or any other persons on the ground. The weather and winds reported at the time of the incident were from variable at 5 knots to winds 120 at 10 knots and the sky was clear with unlimited visibility.a post incident investigation of the aircraft was performed by maintenance personnel from the school and no abnormalities or discrepancies were found with the flight control or gear systems.

As the FAA filed it

AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT THE STUDENT PILOT WAS PRACTICING TAKEOFFS AND LANDINGS.INITIALLY THE STUDENT PILOT MADE TWO TAKEOFFS AND TWO LANDINGS FROM THE RUNWAY IN USE WHICH WAS RUNWAY 3.UPON LANDING FOR THE SECOND TIME A RUNWAY CHANGE WAS INITIATED BY ATC AND THE STUDENT PILOT TAXIED TO RUNWAY 21. THE STUDENT PILOT WAS THEN CLEARED FOR DEPARTURE ON RUNWAY 21 AND DEPARTED ALIGNED WITH THE RUNWAY CENTERLINE.IN AN INTERVIEW WITH THE STUDENT PILOT HE STATES THAT HE BEGAN A NORMAL DEPARTURE FROM RUNWAY 21 AND DID NOT NOTICE THE WINDSOCK OR WIND DIRECTION ON DEPARTURE.THE STUDENT PILOT STATES THAT THE DEPARTURE ROLL WAS NORMAL AND NO ABNORMALITIES EXISTED UNTIL HE WAS JUST BELOW ROTATION SPEED, APPROXIMATELY 63 KNOTS.AT THAT TIME, THE STUDENT PILOT STATES HE EXPERIENCED A VERY SHARP YAWING OF THE NOSE APPROXIMATELY 45 DEGREES TO THE LEFT OF RUNWAY CENTERLINE. THE STUDENT PILOT STATES THAT HE USED FULL RIGHT RUDDER TO COUNTERACT AND CORRECT FOR THE YAWING MOTION AND SIMULTANEOUSLY PUT IN A CORRECTION TO THE RIGHT USING AILERONS.THE STUDENT PILOT STATES THAT THE RUDDER INPUT DID NOT CORRECT THE YAW OR STRAIGHTEN THE NOSE AND HE RELEASED THE RIGHT RUDDER INPUT THAT HE HAD USED. HE ALSO STATES AT THAT TIME THE AIRPLANE BEGAN A SLIGHT ROLLING MOTION TO THE RIGHT. THE STUDENT PILOT STATES THAT HE INITIATED AN ABORT PROCEDURE AND THAT THE AIRCRAFT CONTINUED TOWARD THE LEFT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY.THE STUDENT PILOT STATES THAT HE INITIATED AN ENGINE SHUTDOWN PROCEDURE AT THE TIME HE REALIZED THE AIRCRAFT WAS TRAVELLING TOWARD THE LEFT EDGE OF THE RUNWAY.HE STATES THAT HE ATTEMPTED BRAKING WHILE ON THE RUNWAY BUT THAT AS THE AIRCRAFT ENTERED THE GRASSY AREA BETWEEN THE RUNWAY AND TAXIWAY HE RELEASED BRAKE PRESSURE BECAUSE HE WAS CONCERNED ABOUT SLIPPING ON THE GRASS. THERE WAS NO DAMAGE TO THE AIRCRAFT OR ANY OTHER SURROUNDING AIRCRAFT, VEHICLE OR STRUCTURE.THERE WAS NO INJURY TO THE STUDENT PILOT OR ANY OTHER PERSONS ON THE GROUND.THE WEATHER AND WINDS REPORTED AT THE TIME OF THE INCIDENT WERE FROM VARIABLE AT 5 KNOTS TO WINDS 120 AT 10 KNOTS AND THE SKY WAS CLEAR WITH UNLIMITED VISIBILITY.A POST INCIDENT INVESTIGATION OF THE AIRCRAFT WAS PERFORMED BY MAINTENANCE PERSONNEL FROM THE SCHOOL AND NO ABNORMALITIES OR DISCREPANCIES WERE FOUND WITH THE FLIGHT CONTROL OR GEAR SYSTEMS.
