From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

An Aeronca 7AC, serial number 7AC-5553, N1986E was reported to have veered off the runway on landing on runway 24 at 26N, Friday October 5, 2012.no visible damage was found on aircraft or propeller. However, the aircraft did sustain a rough landing, as the aircraft veered off runway 24 at mid length of the runway. Both main wheels were packed and covered in mud. Mud was also visible on the propeller, lower engine cowling and on the bottom of the fuselage, and empennage. Additionally, the tail wheel was also submerged in mud and water. Further investigation revealed, the aircraft touched down at mid field, as skid marks were found at mid field and visible to indicate that the aircrafts left main wheel skidding as the aircraft veered to the right and exiting the runway surface and stopping approximately 30 yards to the right of the runway in a marsh area. Landing gear tracks were also indicated on the soft ground through the wet marsh and weeded area. A heavier track was indicated by the left main wheel as it traveled on the soft surface. The pilot attempted a cross wind landing; winds were reported as 320 degrees at 6 knots. Pilot stated he made a three (3) point landing on center line of runway 24, suddenly the right wing lifted and the aircraft veered to the right, exiting the runway and coming to rest in the marsh and weeds
