From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

Pilot statement dated 10-22-2012:

To whom it may concern, I was returning alone from a one hour flight from ktbr at around 3:15 pm local on a good weather day. Pre landing checklist was complete. On short final with gear down, full flaps, airspeed at 80, I was in position for landing with light winds. At around 50 feet, I pulled the power to idle and shortly after started to flare. It then felt as if I had encountered some gusty winds or wind shear. There was some yaw at touchdown. After touchdown, the aircraft veered to the left and exited the pavement despite my control inputs. Shortly thereafter the nose gear collapsed, the prop hit the ground and stopped the engine. The aircraft skidded to a stop. No apparent leaks, smoke or smells. Everything was quiet. I heard the request on the CTAF for emergency equipment. I transmitted that I was ok and to send for help. I shut down all electrics, magnetos and fuel. I then exited the aircraft uninjured. The authorities arrived moments later. privacy data omitted
