From the FAA’s Accident/Incident Data System (AIDS), through its Aviation Safety Information Portal, as reported. The NTSB investigates accidents separately, and its record of an accident is the fuller one. The aircraft is matched to the registry by N-number and event date, checked against the reported make and model; the registry’s history has gaps, so older matches can be wrong. Compare the reported make and model.

What happened

The FAA’s narrative, in sentence case. The FAA writes it in capitals and removes private details.

On Saturday November 3, 2012, Cessna 402B, N402CZ, flight no. FRG1540 departed mke at approximately 07:15 CDT with a destination of mrj. When the aircraft was approximately 25 miles west of mke the pilot reported that the left engine sputtered twice and then it quit running. The pilot completed the engine failure in-flight, during non critical phase of flight emergency checklist (ref freight runners express, inc. Cessna 402B cockpit reference handbook, p/n FRE-402B-83). The pilot was unable to restart the engine and then completed the engine securing emergency checklist.
